Clay Millican and Parts Plus/Great Clips/UNOH team have a successful weekend in Memphis…

Clay Millican and the Great Clips/Parts Plus/ UNOH dragster were in action again last weekend, this time, taking to the track in Memphis, TN for the World Series of Drag Racing. Millican and his Great Clips Racing team were victorious match after match at his hometown track, eventually walking away from the weekend as the new World Series of Drag Racing Champions! In addition to racing, Millican also participated in the Doug Herbert B.R.A.K.E.S. school which teaches teen drivers how to properly handle their car to prevent accidents and help save lives. Next, Millican will head to Indianapolis for the U.S. Nationals this week where he is also leading the fan based vote for the final spot in the Traxxas Nitro Shootout race that takes place during the U.S. Nationals competition.

Clay Millican lands top spot in Traxxas Nitro Shootout fan vote…

Clay Millican and the Great Clips/Parts Plus/ UNOH dragster landed 43% of the fan vote for the Traxxas Nitro Shootout this weekend in Indy. Millican is one of the most followed Top Fuel drivers in the NHRA with more than 128,000 followers on Twitter alone, and he put that incredible fan network to work in order to secure the top spot in the fan vote. While Millican’s orange ball didn’t land in the top spot during the lottery drawing, he along with the entire Stringer Performance team are thrilled for Terry McMillen to have the opportunity to race for the $100,000 prize.

Parts Plus/Great Clips/UNOH dragster to feature childhood cancer awareness decal for entire month of September…

Last year the Parts Plus/Great Clips/ UNOH dragster ran a special childhood cancer decal to help spread support for the Prayers for Elijah movement. Elijah was the young son of a former Stringer Holdings employee who sadly lost his battle to Epithelioid Sarcoma. Elijah’s cancer was so rare that he was the only child to ever have it on their neck and was one of only 500 patients identified with this type of cancer since 1970. While Elijah’s fight on Earth ended a few short month ago, the war against childhood cancer still rages on for thousands of families across the world. Throughout the month of September, the entire Stringer Performance family will not only be highlighting the fight against childhood cancer, but also encouraging our fans to make donations to the Prayers for Elijah Foundation or another childhood cancer foundation of their choice. Let’s join together to make sure that each battle against childhood cancer in the future is won! For more information on the Prayers for Elijah Foundation and to make a donation please visit: www.prayersforelijah.com

Quote from Clay Millican on racing last weekend in Memphis and the B.R.A.K.E.S program…

“To say it was a GREAT weekend would be an understatement. Getting ready for the event at Memphis International Raceway was a big undertaking, for my team, for my family and certainly for all my friends. Adding a race is tough when we already have such a busy schedule. Everyone at Stringer Performance, Parts Plus, Great Clips and every member of our team, went above and beyond to make this a successful event. Our team not only put on a great show, we went out and won the World Series of Drag Racing! To add to this already wonderful event, I was very surprised during opening ceremonies to be inducted into Memphis Hall of Fame.

Another part of this wonderful weekend was the gift of a B.R.A.K.E.S. School, given to Donna, Cale and I in memory of our son Dalton by pro stock racer, Allen Johnson, his wife Pam, and Tom & Joan Calimanis. A year of work went into planning and preparation for this event. It was

certainly an emotional roller coaster ride, but so very rewarding. The school, the instructors and the staff members that Doug Herbert has put together is an incredible group of people. What an amazing job they all do!

Leading up to this event my family and I visited many high schools. We were all very nervous that we may have no one show up, but the turnout was incredible.  The kids and parents showed up in droves. My family and I were only a small part of this. The volunteers that showed up to make the school success were invaluable to us. The group of Dalton’s friends that spent hours out in the hot Memphis sun – thank you!  We love you all!  To the Sugar Creek Boys and the Cooper boys, we will never forget what you did. The volunteers who showed up that we didn’t even know – WOW! How AWESOME! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

To Pam Kendrick and the staff at the Memphis International Raceway, thank you for the use of such a wonderful facility.  IRGSE and Chris Lencheski, thank you for the donation to help get us started on having B.R.A.K.E.S. return next year.

To everyone at all the high schools we visited, the staff and the kids, thank you for allowing us to come speak to you about B.R.A.K.E.S. To all the kids and parents who came out, we thank you. I could go on forever thanking everyone who made this happen.

We love and miss Dalton every day. He is with us every day; and he was certainly with us this weekend. Through this wonderful program, Dalton made sure that there are some safer drivers on the road.”
