Millican Has Extra Incentive To Win In Las Vegas

McLeansboro, IL (March 29, 2017) – This weekend Clay Millican has extra incentive to win at the 2017 DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals in Las Vegas. Event sponsor DENSO is also an associate sponsor of the Parts Plus/Great Clips/University of Northwestern Ohio Top Fuel dragster.

“Vegas would be a great place to start a winning streak. I would love to raise a Wally up in front of all of our guests from DENSO,” Millican said. “We really appreciate all the support DENSO gives us and we want to do them proud.”

DENSO has been a sponsor of Millican’s for six years now. During the off-season, Millican was large part of the DENSO display at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The Stringer Performance Top Fuel dragster was on display and Millican talked to hundreds of students about safe driving habits off the race track.

“I really enjoy working with such a large, global company like DENSO,” said Millican. “They’ve been my sponsor for a few years and I look forward to working with them on some pretty big projects coming up this season.”

Last time Millican raced at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was in October and he ended up running his career-best elapsed time and speed: 3.689 seconds at 328.38 mph.

Millican kicks-off race weekend coaching DENSO employees as they get behind the wheel and compete against each other in a special sponsor race Thursday evening.

Millican Happy With Performance of Dragster at NHRA Gatornationals

Gainesville, FL (March 19, 2017) – The Stringer Performance Team advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2017 Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals this weekend. Driver Clay Millican was very pleased with the hard work his team put in and the performance of the Parts Plus/Great Clips/University of Northwestern Ohio Top Fuel dragster.

“Overall I cannot gripe about anything this weekend. This car is really, really showing some consistency and that’s been our goal,”Millican said. “I mean this thing went down the track every single run with the exception of the first qualifying pass. We pretty much hit our numbers we were trying to run every time.”

Millican came into race day qualified No.8 with an elapsed time of 3.762 seconds at 320.74 mph. In Round 1 Clay faced Terry McMillen. Millican is 6 – 3 against McMillen in previous matchups. Millican had a very slim advantage off the starting line and kept the lead the entire race. He defeated Millican 3.741/315.42 to 5.345/135.21.

In Round two Millican came up against Tony Schumacher. Their reaction times were nearly identical: Millican .079 and Schumacher .077. The side-by-side race continued all the way to the finish line, but Schumacher took the win light, 3.751/326.24 to 3.776/322.42.

“The way the team is making this car go down the race track, it’s going to turn into a lot of win lights this season. I mean we had one win light today then lost a really good race to Tony Schumacher second round,” said Millican. “Internally our goal has been to be 80 percent going down the race track. I think if you figure it up, we were 83 percent for the weekend going down the race track.”

The next race for the Parts Plus/Great Clips/University of Northwestern Ohio is the 2017 Toyota Nationals in Las Vegas on March 31 to April 2.

Gatornationals More Than Just a Race for Millican

McLeansboro, IL (March 14, 2017) – It’s not just about racing this week for Parts Plus/Great Clips/UNOH Top Fuel driver Clay Millican. It’s about helping one of his favorite charities and reuniting with his East Coast friends.

The 2017 Amalie Oil NHRA Gatornationals is the first race of the season on the East Coast. For Millican, who is from Tennessee, this is his chance to watch his closest friends in action.

“This is the first chance I have to watch all my friends I grew up racing with, compete this year,” Millican said. “Most of the Sportsmen teams who live around me don’t make the trek to Pomona or Phoenix, so this is like the East Coast racers spring break.”

Previously at Gainesville Raceway, Millican made it to the finals in 2013 and in 2016 he made it to the semifinals but was defeated by Terry McMillen. He admits both of these races were very memorable.

“In 2013 I raced Antron in the finals and I felt we had a good shot at winning. Even thought we were the runner-up, I was able to watch several good friends win in Sportsmen,” said Millican. “And I don’t like to lose, it was hard to be mad after losing Terry in the semifinals last year. This was his first trip to the finals and he had struggled so many times at his sponsor’s race. When we got out of our cars he picked me up and was swinging me everywhere. It’s hard not to smile when he did that.”

First up on Millican’s schedule this week is to participating in the Drag Racing Association of Women’s (D.R.A.W.) annual Tracy Winters Golf Tournament in Gainesville.

“D.R.A.W. is very special to me and this is just one way I can help them out,” said Millican. “Most people don’t realize how much work these women do to help racers when they are injured. What they do is just incredible.”

Fans will have a chance to meet Millican on Saturday at 10:30 at the Mello Yello Powerhouse on the Midway and 10:45 at the NHRA Autograph Session at the Top Eliminator Club at Gainesville Raceway.

Colten Moore Benefit Auction: Bid to Win an NHRA World Finals Race Eliminations Package for 2 with Clay Millican

Colten Moore is a seven-time X Games medalist and a pioneer in the world of extreme sports. He has competed and performed around the world but will always consider his native Texas home where he lives in suburban Dallas. Colten was injured on January 29th at the X-Games in Aspen sustaining a spinal cord injury while attempting a double back flip on his snowmobile.

He was rushed to the hospital after over rotating the trick, which would have been the first in X Games history. The 27-year-old then was flown to a Denver hospital, where surgeons performed emergency surgery on his back to repair a dislocated T-12 vertebra. But the dislocation bruised his spinal cord.

Moore, whose brother Caleb suffered a fatal injury during a snowmobile freestyle contest at the X Games in 2013, has been transported back to his home in Texas where he continues his rehab.

The Auction is for an NHRA World Finals Race Eliminations Package for 2 with Clay Millican at Pomona Raceway in Pomona CA on November 12, 2017. The package includes:
